iPhone 13 Pro Max Wins Best Smartphone Display from DisplayMate

As shown by display testing firm DisplayMate, the Phone 13 Pro Max has the best display in a smartphone. According to Apple, the latest iPhone flagship has near-perfect calibration accuracy and rewarding picture quality. DisplayMate awarded the iPhone 13 Pro Max the best smartphone display award with an A+ display performance grade based on its lab tests. DisplayMate has given the new iPhone the highest overall display assessment rating. The display on the iPhone 13 Pro Max has been significantly improved over that of the iPhone 12 Pro from last year. One of them supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

According to DisplayMate's detailed report, the iPhone 13 Pro Max set or tied 12 performance records. The highest absolute color, the smallest shift in color accuracy, the highest contrast ratio, and the lowest screen reflectance are among them.

“The iPhone 13 Pro Max display meets all of the criteria and requirements for a DisplayMate A+ Grade, earning DisplayMate's Highest Overall Display Assessment Rating and Highest Display Performance Grade of A+,” the firm noted in its report.

DisplayMate said it put the iPhone 13 Pro Max through a series of tests to see how well it performed. The new model features an XDR display with ProMotion, which offers a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Apple claimed that the iPhone 13 Pro Max has the company's "best display ever," which responds to content on the screen and provides "fantastic" graphics performance.

DisplayMate awarded the iPhone 12 Pro Max the best smartphone display award last year. According to DisplayMate benchmarks, that model was able to set or match 11 smartphone display performance records.

Although there aren't many differences between the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Pro Max in terms of display, the new model has a higher peak brightness of 1,000 nits for typical content, which is 200 nits higher than the iPhone 12 Pro Max's peak brightness of 800 nits. When viewing HDR content, both phones deliver up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness.

According to DisplayMate, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has 1,050 nits of 100 percent average picture level (APL) in bright ambient light. This means that the new iPhone's on-screen content will be visible in bright sunlight.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max, according to DisplayMate, has an impressive absolute color accuracy of 0.5 Just Noticeable Color Difference (JNCD), which is said to be visually indistinguishable from perfect and better than any traditional Ultra-HD (4K) TV. At a typical smartphone viewing distance of 12 to 18 inches, the display is said to be "perfectly sharp" for normal 20/20 vision.

According to DisplayMate, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has 4.6 percent minimal screen reflectance. Vision accessibility display modes are said to be included in the new model to assist people with vision impairments.

On the iPhone 13 Max, Apple has also improved the display power consumption. According to DisplayMate, the new iPhone has a 25% higher display power efficiency than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The automatic ProMotion Display Driver reduces the Refresh Rate to 10Hz for static images, which accounts for the majority of the improvement, according to the company.
